Setting Up An Upset

According to the website of the Commonwealth Department of State election returns, Democratic challenger Tony Barr received more votes in the Aril 22nd primary than did the incumbent Bill Shuster (R PA09). Tony Barr received 57,489 votes, while Shuster received only 56,921 votes. While hardly a landslide, the 1% Barr edge going into the general election makes an upset in the 9th District a distinct possibility. "Obviously, we have a lot of work to do" Barr said, "but we are eager to bring our message to the voters in the 9th District. The Bush/Shuster era hasn't been good for the 9th District and we are confident that the voters are looking to make a change, but we still have some work to do." "I'd like to thank the voters all over the 9th Congressional District. Even though we were uncontested in the primary, I want to thank all the voters who supported me. We look forward to the fall campaign. We look forward to talking about the issues that matter to the citizens who live in the 9th Congressional District. We look forward to seeing you out on the campaign trial, very soon."

On Saturday May 17th at 7pm Friends of the Tony Barr for Congress campaign will be holding a fundraiser at the Bedford American Legion Hall Downstairs to show that we are raising the Barr! The night will feature good food and great friends.
